Vernon Thompson (CSW Mansfield and Coach to Eden Mansfield) gives us a match report:
O n the 29th June, Eden Mansfield entered a newly formed football team into the Disability World Cup Tournament.It was a very hot day and after a shaky start to the competition the team dug deep and showed passion, commitment and a desire to win that was second to none.
We went to the competition just to get experience for the forthcoming League season, and what was an enjoyable day turned into the most memorable as against all odds we won. I would like to thank the team for those memories which I shall keep. Also I need to mention the level of respect shown to the referees, opposing players and coaches – it was exemplary.
We would also like to wish Adam and the Newark lads all the best for the forthcoming league and will still cheer you on in all your games, apart from one! (I’m sure you’re thinking the same.) Good luck to both Eden teams!
