Pay Review 2010

Pay Review 2010

As many of you will likely be aware from your local management teams, all of our Commissioners have now confirmed that Eden will receive no inflationary rise this year – to my dismay this is the third year in succession that such a decision has been taken.

You will appreciate from my article in Eden Eyes (issue 16 October 2009) that this news has not come as a surprise to us and you will all be aware from the national news that is currently making all of the headlines that the public sector (our paymasters) are entering a period of severe financial pressure. Without the benefit of a rise from our Commissioners I do not wish to foster any false hopes and I am sorry to confirm that there will not therefore be a pay award across Eden in October 2010. Please be assured that this decision effects everybody employed by the company from our Office Cleaners through to the Directors.

Whilst it may be of little comfort, I am working with Ceri Lennon, HR Manager with regard to a number of minor changes around for example, the future length of shift contracts (i.e. a 37½hour option) and the re-launch of the Level 2 Support Worker position which will hopefully be of some benefit to a few.

Looking to the future, my priority remains to ensure that Eden continues to be well managed and financially secure – I believe that we have a responsibility to all 550 of our employees and I will undertake all necessary steps to ensure future continuity of employment. I just hope that the austerity measures that are now being introduced by new coalition government will allow us to return to a more stable financial environment as soon as possible.

I do hope that you will feel able to understand the decision that has been taken and I would like to thank you once again for your continued support during what is for all a very difficult economic climate.

Kind regards
Paul Adcock
General Manager
